Ubuntu works fine, except for some minor things I haven’t asked about because I could probably figure out myself if I took the time…one weird thing is that when I’m typing an email sometimes the cursor suddenly decides to move somewhere else and I have to go & delete, reposition the cursor, etc.

Otherwise, Ubuntu is cool. I like the African drumbeat when logging in. Late at night it mingles in my brain with the Obama campaign, then I imagine there is a vast Obama conspiracy…today I found an Obama office in Shepherdstown & stopped in for a yard sign, and the next thing I knew they were signing me up to canvas on Saturday and drive people to vote on Tuesday, so my conspiracy theory must be correct!!

Yes! I like Ubuntu for that reason too… though I also like having the option of making my computer into a time-consuming project when I feel like it :).

That’s the “girlfriend” test I use for my choice in distro. The girlfriendless nerd stereotype arises at least in part because people without girlfriends can become obsessively involved with projects like their computers. With ubuntu, I have the option of not making my computer into a time-consuming project.
